Quick update: We're good! We lost power for a few hours on Tuesday night (the majority of our neighbors lost it during the storm, but that particular line or transformer seemed to have stopped on my street, since we were never part of the same outage). We lost out internet and cable during the storm and got it back today. There was a large tree down on our street that took out the Cablevision lines; they removed it today and service was back about an hour later.  My school is in the no-power zone in lower Manhattan, on 21st Street, so who knows when I go back. NYC public schools are closed through the weekend. Tim works in the Bronx so he was able to drive in to work on Tuesday and take the bus yesterday. I'm overwhelmed by how lucky we've been (the Bronx was not hit hard, but our immediate neighborhood took a hit) and by how sad everything is - trees uprooted, people dying, and a whole neighborhood up in flames in Breezy Point. I also have cabin fever, which doesn't help with the emotional state.

Nature: scary mo'fo.
