I randomly became obsessed with Burlington, Vermont over the weekend. Clean streets! A big lake! Big pretty houses for under $200k! Skiing! As you may have noticed, I have these occasional non-New York real estate fantasies, which are abruptly halted by the 'JOBS! THERE ARE NONE!' dilemma. However, this particular obsession translated to the, "Well, we've considered retiring there. Maybe we ought to visit sometime," theme, which translated to, "Hmmm. I hear they have a marathon..." and I performed some intrepid internet explorations to reveal that, yes indeedy, they have the annual Vermont City Marathon on Memorial Day weekend. It caps at about 3500 entrants. Small. Intriguing.

Anyone out there done it? What's it like? Lonely? I worry about loneliness in the slow lane, not that I'm very social, but I don't want to be all by myself, either. Crowds or the lack thereof don't bother me as much as the idea of running, alone, somewhere around mile 23. Delurk. Advise.
